At least two children tragically lost their lives on Thursday night after a fire broke out at Umoja Three Estate in Nairobi.

The victims, aged four and five, were alone in their home when the blaze began around 9 p.m., eventually spreading to neighboring buildings.

The fire, which devastated about 20 residential houses, also destroyed several shops and stalls, leaving the victims homeless and forced to spend the night in the cold.

Property of unknown value was gutted in the inferno, which sent clouds of smoke billowing into the night sky.

A team of firefighters from the Nairobi County Disaster Management was quickly dispatched to the scene, battling the flames as helpless residents looked on, unable to save their belongings.

Despite their efforts, the fire continued to rage, reducing homes and businesses to ashes.

Police have confirmed that the cause of the fire is still under investigation, as authorities work to determine what sparked the deadly blaze.

The incident occurred just two days after another fire on Thika Road destroyed property worth millions at a furniture shop in Kasarani, raising concerns about fire safety in the city.
