A Nairobi judge has adjourned a plea hearing to November 21 after three of the nine accused officers in the Baby Pendo murder case failed to appear in court
Linah Kogey, Mohamed Ali, and Mohammed Baa, failed to appear at the Milimani Court in Nairobi.
Titus Yoma, Titus Mitune, John Chengo, Benjamin Koima, Benjamin Lorema, Volker Edambo, Cyprine Rodi, Josphat Sensira, and James Rono, the officers, appeared before Justice Daniel Ogembo but pleaded not guilty to the murder charges.
The judge ordered the other officers in court to be released on a personal bond of KSh 200,000 each with an undertaking to appear in court for plea taking.
“I hereby direct that the suspects appear in court on Monday, November 21 for plea taking,” justice Ogemba ruled.
The court agreed with the Director of Public Prosecutions that no order or stay from the High Court or any other superior court forbids the suspects from entering pleas.
“In the absence of any orders stopping plea taking we urged the court to order the suspect before you to take plea,” prosecutor Ouya stated.
