Tokyo Olympics 2020 postponed to 2021, The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) and the Ministry of Sports have applauded Japan for postponing the 2020 Olympic Games due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a joint statement issued by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Committee on Tuesday, the Games that were due for July 24- August 9 in Tokyo, Japan will be rescheduled to 2021.

“We at the National Olympic Committee of Kenya are delighted to support the International Olympic Committee (IOC) move to postpone the Olympic Games.” the statement read in part.

The committee added that it would be too risky and reckless to think about sending Kenya’s athletes to Japan.

This is the latest sporting event to suffer under the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside other major sporting events in the world.
