Kane Breaks Premier League History

Tottenham moved to the top of the Premier League with a hard-fought win over Wolves, as Harry Kane scored his 250th goal for the club.

England forward reacted quickly to head in Ivan Perisic’s flick-on from a corner, rewarding Spurs for their dominance in the second half.

Kane’s effort also helped the hosts become the fifth team in Premier League history to score 1,000 goals at home since the league’s inception in 1992.

Both the 29-year-old and his strike partner Son Heung-min had hit the crossbar as Spurs poured forward to break the deadlock.

The intensity of their football was in stark contrast to the first period when a Wolves team featuring seven Portuguese players – the competition’s joint-most from a single foreign nation in a starting XI – were in command.

Bruno Lage’s side limited the hosts to one 45th-minute effort, with record signing Matheus Nunes nodding Ruben Neves’ probing pass inches wide of the Spurs goal.

Despite the promise of Nunes’ performance and the neat and tidy football that saw them create several good openings, Wolves lacked a spark in the final third, extending their winless top-flight run to ten games.
