Trade CS, Miano Holds Talks With Canada Export Promotion Minister

Miano hosted the first bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Trade Ministers meeting, which is currently taking place in Osaka, Japan.

CS Trade and Industry Rebecca Miano met with Canada’s Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade, and Economic Development, Mary NG, on Saturday to discuss future development ties between the two Countries.

Miano hosted the first bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Trade Ministers meeting, which is currently taking place in Osaka, Japan.

According to the ministry, the meeting focused on the two countries’ growing bilateral trade relationship, specifically tea, coffee, horticulture, pharmaceuticals, and industrial products.

“The two ministers emphasized the importance of engaging Africa on greening value chains, diversifying supply chains to include Africa, and ensuring that trade works for MSMEs,” the statement said.

The two ministers agreed that Kenya and Canada will work to mutually support their vision of a prosperous, sustainable world driven by trade and investment.

The meeting focused on optimizing trade relationships and advocating for businesses between the two countries.

“We have inked a joint statement, launching the Japan industry policy dialogue to further boost collaboration,” Miano said.

Miano stated that the shared vision includes increasing industrial cooperation, improving market access, and fortifying supply capacity for mutual growth.
