Supporters of Azimio la Umoja flocked to Milimani Law courts ahead of the filing of a petition challenging William Ruto’s declaration as President-elect.

This comes as Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja coalition arrived at the Supreme Court, which was moved to Milimani law courts, on Monday with a lorry full of evidence he plans to use to challenge President-Elect William Ruto’s victory.

As a result, there was a heavy traffic jam outside Milimani law courts.

After filing the petition, Azimio will be expected to serve respondents within one day, who will then have four days to file their responses.

A seven-judge bench will decide on Azimio’s election petition after listening to Azimio, Ruto and the electoral commission and decide the way forward to deciding who is Kenya’s legitimate president.

Ruto was declared President-Elect on Monday, August 15, but Raila has challenged his victory.

The ODM leader, who was running for the presidency for the fifth time, claimed that the election was rigged in Ruto’s favour.

Four IEBC Commissioners have also distanced themselves from the results, raising concerns about how chairman Wafula Chebukati conducted himself.
