The budget statement for this year will be released on June 10 by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani.
In the announcement, Yattani invited Kenyans to submit their particular and general budget ideas to the Treasury by May 26 for consideration.
Treasury added that part of the plans should include recommended steps to address present business issues as well as policy choices for a sustainable and resilient post-Covid economic revival.
According to the Treasury’s expenditure intentions in the 2021 Budget Policy Statement (BPS) issued in February, Kenya’s budget for the next fiscal year would exceed Sh3.5 trillion.
Kenyans have also been encouraged to provide advice on how to speed up the implementation of government priority programs, as well as methods to improve income mobilization and carefully manage public funds.
Treasury said it wants to hear from Kenyans on the many policy alternatives that will return the country’s economy on a steady and sustainable development path, as well as particular methods to help the private sector and small enterprises recover and expand.
“The proposals should include ways to protect lives and livelihoods and generate more employment opportunities for Kenyans and specific measures to cushion vulnerable citizens against the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Treasury noted.
