Raphael Tuju, the executive director of Azimio la Umoja, has dismissed reports of unrest in Raila Odinga’s coalition.
Tuju stated on Tuesday that the coalition is still intact and that any challenges they face will be resolved.
“We are together. It is friendship and sometimes we’ll have conflict, it happens in every family,” Tuju said.
Tuju insisted that their main goal is to win the General Elections on August 9th.
He claimed that the coalition’s teething problems are common during coalition formation and that the principals, led by ODM leader Raila Odinga, are no longer concerned about the concerns raised by the OKA team.
“We will resolve the issue, and the manner in which it will be resolved will be left to the coalition’s problem-solving team. There’s no reason to be concerned, in my opinion.”
Tuju made the remarks after chairing a meeting of all Azimio-OKA Secretary Generals in a Nairobi hotel.
The meeting comes a day after One Kenya Alliance coalition (OKA) wrote to the Registrar of Political Parties to request that the Azimio-One Kenya Alliance registration process be halted.
The parties claimed that there is a hidden agenda to change an original agreement signed by three caucuses in order to include a fourth caucus without all parties’ consent.
