Versatile Tusker centre-back Isaac Kipyegon is among the fifteen individuals who have been suspended by Football Kenya Federation for their alleged involvement in match fixing.
Kipyegon who can play as a left back is the sole player drawn from the top flight to be drafted in the list released by the federation on Friday afternoon.
The defender, joined Tusker last year from AFC Leopards where he had the privilege of skippering the former champions prior to his exit. He played for Zoo FC before joining Leopards.
Two coaches; Mangili Selenga who tutors Kericho FC and Willis Ochieng who handles Zetech University are the only tacticians in the list with the rest being players.
The 2018 Kenyan Premier League’s Most Valuable Player Michael Madoya was not spared as his name was included in the list of the suspended individuals or are either active or have taken a break from the game.
Madoya featured for Nairobi City Stars in the past campaign and it remains unclear whether the attacking midfielder may have slipped into retirement or taken a break from the game as he did not make a move in the past transfer windows.
Just like Kipyegon, Madoya is a product of Zoo who were relegated to the third tier over their hand in match manipulation that has been associated with the club in recent years.
Former Vihiga United midfielder Dennis Monda will also be locked out of action pending the outcome of the investigation as his name was included in the file. The midfielder played for Mathare United last year.
Interestingly, the rest of the suspended players are either attached to Zoo FC or have played for the Division One side. Both Mangili and Ochieng have also coached the club before leaving under unclear circumstances.
Zoo goalkeeper Brian Lumumba and the long-serving midfielder Geoffrey Gichana have been incorporated in the list of suspended players. The federation in a press statement stated that Gichana was attached to the club although it is understood that, the player left the outfit last year.
Silibwet Leons trio of Stanislas Akiya, William Odunga and Sammy Sindani have also been netted by the dragnet and suspended.
Hamidu Kwizera, Vincent Misikhu,Johnstone Ligare and Daniel Kiptoo who all played for Zoo in the past years have also suffered similar fate so is Kericho Rovers’ Dominic Ouma.
