Two Arraigned in Kiambu Court for Burning Kikuyu CDF Office

Two suspects, Naftary David Njama Gatuota and Joseph Kuru Waweru, have been arraigned before a Kiambu court for charges of arson and malicious damage to property.

The accusations stem from an incident on June 25th, 2024, where the Kikuyu NG-CDF offices, an NG-CDF vehicle, and the office of the Kikuyu Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner were allegedly set ablaze and vandalized.

The total value of the destroyed and damaged property is estimated at Sh23.1 million.

It is reported that both Gatuota and Waweru are individuals who unsuccessfully vied for elective seats during the 2022 elections.

They denied all three charges and were released on a bond of Sh1 million with a surety of a similar amount or a cash bail of Sh200,000.

The court proceedings are expected to continue.
