Two Caught ‘Relieving’ In National Park, Charged In Court

Two men who allegedly sneaked into the Nairobi National Park to relieve themselves have been charged at a Kibera court.

Josephat Bogonko and Isaac Simiyu were charged before Kibera chief magistrate Ann Mwangi where they pleaded guilty to the charges.

The court, however, entered a plea of not guilty against them following their explanation that indicated a plea of not guilty.

They are accused of committing the offence on September 30 at around 5pm on the side of the park near the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA).

The prosecution told court that Kenya Wildlife Service officers who were on normal patrol spotted the suspects within the park and they informed them that they were just relieving themselves.

The officers arrested them leading to the arraignment.

In mitigation, the accused persons told the court that they were picking plastic bottles within the park when they felt the urge to answer the call of nature.

The magistrate released them on Sh50,000 cash bail with a surety of the similar amount.

The case will be mentioned on October 11.
