Two Fined for Possession of Illicit Brew in Nakuru

Two women have been fined Ksh.20,000 each after being found in possession of illicit brew in Nakuru County.

Rael Akula Turkana and Jane Chepkemoi Tugen were arrested by officers from Menengai Police Station during a crackdown at Kasarani village in the Kampi ya Moto area. Authorities recovered 10 litres of chang’aa in their possession.

The duo was arraigned at the Nakuru Law Courts, where they were charged and subsequently fined Ksh.20,000 each for violating laws against the manufacture and possession of illicit alcohol.

The court ruled that failure to pay the fine would lead to one month of imprisonment. Police say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb the production and sale of illegal brews in the region.
