Two Gold Scammers Face Fraud Charges

Two suspects were arraigned before Hon Bernard Ochoi of Milimani Courts to face allegations of fraud in relation to gold from Congo.

Collins Akenga Chavera and Rodgers Kipkogei are said to have obtained Ksh 1.4 million from Rodgers Monari Machoka pretending they were in a position to sell him Pure gold from Rwanda.

The prosecution stated that on diverse dates between 14th and 21st January 2022, the accused persons while within the republic of Kenya and with intent to defraud obtained the said amount.

Their release on cash or bail terms was not objected by the prosecuting counsel. 

However, the prosecutor pleaded with the Court to issue a bond or bail that will not be used by the suspects to abscond Court. 

This gave the respondent’s Counsel latitude to plead for a favorable bond and or cash bail terms.

The court released them on a bond of Ksh 1.5 million or a Cash bail of Ksh 600,000. The case has been slated on 17th February 2022 for Pretrial.
