Two Suspects in Briton Campbell Scott’s Murder Detained for 21 Days

The two suspects believed to have murdered Campbell Scott, a British national will now remain in police cells for 21 days pending investigations into the murder.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI today told court that Campbell Scott, whose body was discovered in Makongo forest in Makueni County, was murdered in Nairobi’s Pipeline Estate before his body was transported to Makueni.

Preliminary investigations have proved that the victim arrived in Kenya on February 15, 2025, and checked into the W Marriott Hotel in Westlands, Nairobi.

The two suspects,Alex Mutua Kithuka and Albunus Mutinda Nzioki are believed to have lured the British national to a house in Pipeline belonging to Alex Mutua where investigators believe he was killed before his body was discarded in Makueni.

The body was discovered by a local herder grazing goats near Makongo Forest along the Machakos-Wote Road.

Authorities found the victim bound at the hands and legs, placed inside a green nylon sack, and dumped in a ditch about 500 meters from Makongo Forest Viewpoint. The herder immediately reported the matter to the local chief, who alerted Mukuyuni Police Station.

Detectives also uncovered multiple withdrawal attempts from the victim’s bank accounts in Nairobi, Voi, and Mombasa, raising suspicions of a financial motive behind the killing.

As investigations intensified, police arrested two key suspects along the Nairobi-Machakos Road on March 1, 2025.

A post-mortem examination was conducted on February 27, 2025, by government pathologists Dr. Richard Njoroge and Dr. Samuel Omuok, though the exact cause of death is still under investigation.
