Two suspected fraudsters were charged in court today with an offense of making a false document without authority contrary to the Law.
The two, Jackson Ndungu Chuthi and Peter Karimi Miano are said to have conspired to make a certificate of competency serial number 2915/20.
The said document is said to have been purported to be genuine and signed by Hon John Munyes, the cabinet secretary ministry of petroleum and mining.
The offense was committed on 29th June 2020.
They are also said to have on the same date and with intent to defraud made a police clearance certificate serial number 4298/20.
They claimed it to be valid and signed by P.M Ndunda from the directorate of criminal investigation.
The prosecution further charges them with forgery.
It is claimed that on 5th November 2019, the two with others not before the court forged a work, financing consultancy and commission agreement between Jacrep and Mining Company LTD and Eng. James Ndora Mwitari. They claimed it to be legit document signed by James Ndoria Mwitari.
Further they are said to have obtained Ksh 15 million by false pretense.
Particulars of the offense is that on diverse dates between 7th September 2019 and 15th January 2021 the two defrauded Eng. James Ndoria Mwitari the quoted amount pretending they would partner with him in a business dealing with old colonial antiques.
The two denied the charges in their entirety and were released on a bond of Ksh 2 million with an alternative Ksh I million cash bail.
The case will be mentioned on 10th February 2022.
