Two Tiktokers To Be Given 20 Strokes of Cane For Mocking Governor

Two TikTok stars were arrested for defaming the Governor of the Northern state of Kano, Abdullahi Ganduje in one of their comedy skits on their social media pages.

Mubarak Muhammad and Nazifi Muhammed are said to have posted a video on their page last week where they mocked the governor for alleged land grabbing, corruption, and sleeping on the job.

According to the prosecutor, Wada Ahmed Wada said the TikTok stars have defamed the governor with their skit hence their arrest.

The ruling delivered by the magistrate, Aminu Gambari, on Monday, ordered that the two boys be flogged with 20 lashes of the cane each, among other conditions after being found guilty.

They were also ordered by the judge to pay a fine of N10,000 and to clean the court premises for 30 days.

They were also asked to render a public apology to Mr. Ganduje via their social media pages.

Mr. Gambari said that he hoped the punishment would serve as a deterrent to other social media users to respect the integrity of other people, especially the elders.
