Two Trailers Burst Into Flames After A Head-On Collision At Mai Mahiu

Two trailers erupted into flames after a head-on collision in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

According to the National Police Service, the fire has been extinguished, and police are currently managing traffic flow in the area.

The collision occurred along the Mai Mahiu-Naivasha Road in the Governor area, causing both vehicles to go off the road and burst into flames.

All casualties, according to NPS, have been evacuated and are being treated at the Naivasha Sub-county Hospital.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has asked motorists to exercise caution and lane discipline in order to reduce such incidents.

Another multi-vehicle accident occurred on the Nairobi-Thika-Nyeri Road near Thika town (A2).

The two accidents happen just one day after another tragic crash on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway at Ngata Bridge, Nakuru Town West Sub-County.

Twenty others were rushed to the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital and other facilities in Nakuru City for treatment after being critically injured in the collision involving two matatus and a vehicle.

Police have linked the increased frequency of accidents to reckless driving, risky overtaking, intoxicated driving, drunk walking, drunk riding, and refusal to use helmets, among other issues.
