Two Women Charged After Fighting Over A Customer

Sarah Hope Luyemba and Vivian Esther Agutu, both businesswomen, have been charged with Affray in violation of Section 92 of the Penal Code.

The specifics of the offenses are that on September 10, 2022, the two businesswomen engaged in a brawl in a public place.

According to court documents, the two ladies were at their workplace on a relevant day, calling out customers.

When a customer approached one of the ladies’ shops, they began pulling the customer and ended up fighting.

Milimani Chief Magistrate Micheni Wendy, who has long advocated for alternative dispute resolution in order to decongest prison facilities, sought to learn why the two ladies fought over customers.

The ladies claimed that due to the economy and the high cost of living in Nairobi, business owners have been forced to compete for customers, which is why they fought.

Magistrate Micheni Wendy, who appeared moved by the two ladies’ situations, released them on Ksh 5,000 cash bail and directed them to seek harmony and forgive each other.
