UDA: Ruto Is Not Our Only ‘Choice’ For 2022

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced that deputy president William Ruto would not be given a straight ticket for the 2022 presidential elections, just two days after announcing his allegiance with the party. – By Caleb Mwikya

Veronica Maina, the UDA party secretary-general, said that if another candidate emerges, the DP will have to go through the same nomination process as any other candidate.

Ruto decided to formalize his association with UDA just as his former party Jubilee and Orange Democratic Party (ODM) are going through the process of allying.

His announcement is likely to open a debate on political parties membership regulations since the DP was elected on a Jubilee party ticket and is still a member of the party.

UDA has defended Ruto, stating that it has a coalition agreement with Jubilee and if Ruto is breaking any law then so is Jubilee which is associating itself with ODM.

DP will be clashing with Uhuru and Raila. Who do you think will win the election?
