UDA Wins Kiagu By-Elections

Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate won the Kiagu Ward by-election.

Mr. Simon Kiambi Ngaruni won the mini-poll with 2,440 votes, defeating Milton Mwenda of Chama Cha Kazi with 1,823 votes. Samson Kinyua of the Jubilee Party came in third with 1, 609 votes.

Mr Kiambi, who was accompanied by Meru Senator Mithika Linturi and Central Imenti MP Moses Kirima, said after being proclaimed the winner by Kiagu Ward returning officer Pamela Karimi.

"I encourage my opponents to join me in working towards a better Kiagu."


Senator Linturi said UDA’s victory demonstrated the Mt Kenya region’s strong support for the vice president.

"We applaud the IEBC for overseeing a free, fair, and credible election, and we support the deputy president. Even as we approach 2022, this reaffirms our faith in the commission "Mr. Linturi explained.
