UDA’s Chege Njuguna Wins Kandara MP By-Election

President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party candidate Chege Njuguna has won the Kandara Constituency by-election.

Njuguna garnered 21,650 votes against Ford Asili’s Titus Njau Mbuchu who got 14,678 votes in the by-election held on Thursday.

Mr. Kibiru PMG Junior, who ran on the Usawa Kwa Wote USK) party ticket and was backed by former Governor Mwangi wa Iria, garnered 1,469 votes.

The other five candidates received fewer than 1,000 votes, with independent candidate David Kamweti Njuguna receiving 207 votes and Samuel Kioi of The New Democrats (ND) party receiving 201 votes.

The other three independent candidates, Joseph Mbugua Mburu, Pius Muiruri Muturi, and Erastus Gatehi Nyoike, received 107, 100, and 36 votes, respectively.

The Kandara seat fell vacant following the appointment of its previous holder Alice Wahome, who is now Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation.
