Uhuru Nominates Roseline Odede To Chair KNHCR

Roseline Odhiambo-Odede has been named Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights by President Uhuru Kenyatta (KNHCR).

The appointment was made by President Uhuru Kenyatta, through communication to the parliament.

“In the Message, H.E. The President conveys that, in the exercise of powers conferred on him by Article 250(2)(b) of the Constitution, in accordance to the procedure set out in section 11(3) of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights Act (Act No. 14 of 2011), as read together with sections 3 and 5 of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, 2011


Prof. Marion Mutugi Wanjiku, Dr Raymond Plal Sang Nyeris, Ms Sarah Talaso Bonaya, and Dr Dennis Nyongesa Wamalwa were also nominated by Uhuru for the position of commission members.

The House’s Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs is slated to hold hearings on the five and present a report to the House by Tuesday, February 15th, 2022.
