President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered a statewide crackdown on all boda boda operators.
The President, who described the event in the viral video as upsetting to behold, said he has urged law enforcement personnel to crack down on rogue operators and ensure the perpetrators of the horrible conduct are brought to justice.
“I did issue orders yesterday that I have ordered a crackdown on all boda boda operators, beginning here in Nairobi and spreading across the nation,” stated the President.
Similarly, the President advised lawmakers not to use the crackdown as a campaign issue at political rallies, stressing that the government will help the operators if they are disciplined.
“We are in the silly season of politics, and some will go about saying the government is persecuting small traders and business people. We want to assist your business succeed, but you must also do your part,” Kenyatta said.
The horrifying clip shared on social media depicted male boda boda riders strip a woman, moments after an alleged accident she had caused.
So far, 16 riders have been arrested in connection with the incident.
