Uhuru, Ruto Must Resign — Thirdway Alliance

The Thirdway Alliance Party has called for the immediate resignation of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, Dr. William Ruto over gross misconduct.

In a worded letter addressed to the Presidency, Party leader Ekuru Aukot accused them of participating in campaigns, and using public resources to host political gatherings.

“This country, and her millions of citizens, are disturbed that not long after your re-election in October 2017, you not only abdicated your responsibilities of office, but also decided to use public resources and powers bestowed on you to plan for succession politics.

“This is not what Kenyans elected you for each one of you, without exception, has been engaged in active politicking and inexcusable dereliction of duty.”

Dr. Aukot further bashed President Kenyatta for spearheading the BBI initiative that was blocked by the court, and engaging in succession politics.

“The meetings held at State House Nairobi and the Sagana III are a clear pointers that you have decided to use state resources to promote the candidature of your preferred political project. You have been openly using state resources and the privileges of your office to engage in partisan and divisive politics.”

On DP Ruto, the Thirdway Alliance Party condemned the second in command for abandoning his duty and engaging in campaigns, and using his Karen office as a political base.

“[Ruto] has been using the public owned Deputy President’s residence in Karen to launch political activities for the United Democratic Party. He has literally converted that taxpayers* financed residence into a campaign office for his political party, where he receives UDA members and hosts defectors from other political parties”

The angered alliance has now called for a caretaker government to be formed inorder to run the country upon the Presidency’s resignation.

“Thirdway Alliance Kenya now demands that both of you – Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto – must resign forthwith and give way for a caretaker government. There are constitutional mechanisms to fill in that void.”

It is however not clear whether the letter was sent to the respective offices.
