President Uhuru Kenyatta has put requested Kenyans to support local talent by wearing outfits that are made by local designers – By Gerald Gekara.
Through a communique by the State House press team, Uhuru cited the improvement of the local textile industry will see those talented fashion designers and tailors get earings when Kenyans dorn their outfits.
He cited recent efforts to revive the Kenyan textile industry, by reviving old cotton mills that have been dormant for decades; these include Rivatex, Kikotec, Thika Cotton Mills and Ken Knit.
“This is a deliberate and sustained Government strategy aimed at benefitting cotton farmers, growing local industries and creating jobs for the youth.” the Statement has read.
