Uhuru’s Easter message: Stay home and observe hygiene

President Uhuru has reiterated that Kenya will continue to fight the coronavirus pandemic stating that the measures put in place may bring difficult times ahead but the suffering is temporary.

In a statement, the president said though the Easter period is celebrated with family and close friends this year may be different due to the preventatives measures put in place to stop the spread of the Corona Virus and ensure safety of our loved ones.

The President in his Easter message urged Kenyans to reflect on the resurrection story which is the purpose of Easter celebrations and to remember that all the suffering will come to an end through unity and faith.

“The circumstances under which we find ourselves during this year’s Easter holiday are unusual. Our world is going through a period of intense trial brought about by the Covid-19 crisis. We have had to adopt unique measures which we hope will bring an end to the suffering caused by this global pandemic,” he said.

The head of state further commended researchers, doctors, nurses, clinical officers, emergency personnel and security teams for tirelessly giving their resources, skills and expertise and for being on the front line of the fight against Coronavirus.

President Kenyatta insisted on the importance of every Kenyan observing good personal hygiene by washing hands and observing social distancing in communities.

“Today we are in a storm. We have refused to give up and we will see the end of the Covid-19 pandemic in Kenya. We must come together by staying apart and breaking the chain of infection.  Let us continue to observe good personal hygiene by washing hands and observing social distancing in our communities,” his statement reads
