US Ambassador assures election debate will be settled smoothly

US ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter has said that the currently political storm in his homeland generated by the election of Joe Biden will be addressed smoothly. – By Ramadhan Kambi.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi in his office in Kilifi town, the ambassador said countries go through a lot of challenges but at the end, good decisions must be made for peace and prosperity.  

“Countries have challenges and if you look at mine right now, we are struggling through things. But as I said, we shall get through. We shall get to the legal solutions and move on.”

“Sometimes we make mistakes and sometimes we make good decisions but as US, we have grown with Kenya and we shall continue to partner in every sector of trade and healthcare, among other areas,” said the Ambassador.  

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi expressed confidence that the United States (US) will weather the political storm currently being experienced after the election of Joe Biden as the 46th President.  

The Governor said he believes that the US strong independent political institutions is the reason that the storm caused by the elections will be addressed.  

“We wish you all the best on whatever is going on in the US. I know with the strong institutions, then that should not real shake America. I would be worried if that would be happening in one of these African countries.”

“Ours actually is to look at the kind of partnerships that you have already alluded it to make sure that as opposed to aid coming to Kilifi, we want partnerships collaborations so that we can free people to become self-reliance,” said the Governor.  

Governor Kingi added that his administration is putting together all the potential areas of collaborations in partnership that will be shared to the Embassy.

“We are going to put together all the areas of mutual benefits where we can build partnership, where we can have collaborations between the county and the US”.

“Once the department of trade pieces together that information, then we shall submit through our liaison office and it will be able to be transmitted to you and start working on the areas of immediately put for action,” he said.  

Ambassador said it was important that whatever US does with Kenya, then it must go down to self-reliance since Kenya is not a bunch of beggars.  

“Although the US will continue to be helpful in supporting several initiatives like HIV, TB  and other health programs, Kenya should not just be a beneficiary but use the available resources are capable in addressing some of these sectors,” said McCarter.  

“There should be shared prosperity in this country and Kenya can take care of itself. We shall do whatever it takes to get Kenya in a position to take care of itself because that is the most thing you can do in a relationship,” said the Ambassador.
