Uzalendo Journalist Accosted By Protesters In Kisumu

A journalist from Uzalendo News was robbed of her camera while covering protests in Kisumu county.

Faith, according to a police report, was cornered by protesters while taking photographs alongside other journalists. 

“I was taking photographs of the damage on property near the Kisumu State Lodge when a group of irate youth surrounded us and made away with our film equipment.” 

Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o condemned the violent nature of the Kisumu demos.

Several businesses including the recently renovated Sarova Imperial Hotel counted losses in the wake of the attack. 

In Kibra constituency, a vehicle belonging to Nation Media Group was pelted with stones as the police clashed with protesters.

Journalists accompanying the Raila Odinga motorcade were also treated to gushes of itching water canons and tear gas fire from the police.

Raila Odinga in his address said the protests will continue every Monday until his grievances are met.
