Through the North and North Eastern Development Initiative (NEDI), a $2 billion program conceptualized in partnership with World Bank Kenya to increase transformative projects in the region, the government has started moving more quickly toward long-term solutions to security challenges in the frontier counties.

PS Interior Raymond Omollo met with a NEDI implementation support mission led by Peter Taniform to discuss the operationalization of the Security Management Plan created to guarantee the safety of personnel and the security of equipment during the execution of the 17 high-impact projects covered by the initiative.

With projects and programs in many different sectors, chief among them transportation, health, education, water, and agriculture, the government, with assistance from the World Bank Kenya, aims to offer the impacted populations alternate routes to sustainable livelihoods.
