The sentencing of a terror suspect convicted of planning to blow KICC has been adjourned to February 24,2023.
Bwire appeared before the court today for sentencing after his mitigation, however, the sentencing could not be delivered due to the absence of the Magistrate who is out on official duty.
Victor Odende Bwire was convicted by Milimani senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi of conspiring to perpetrate a terrorist attack.
Bwire admitted that he had been enrolled to collect intelligence reports on KICC’s security details, parking areas and its environs prior to the attack by terrorist.
“The accused person herein admitted that he had been enrolled to collect intelligence reports on KICC’s security details, parking areas and its environs prior to the attack by terrorist. I find that the prosecution proved their case beyond reasonable doubt and the accused person is hereby convicted on both counts” ruled the trial magistrate.
Victor Bwire prior to his arrest had established three Facebook profiles, which he used to collect data and distribute it to Somalia, as well as to the enlisting master Mohamed Yare Abdalla, who is serving a life sentence in Kamiti Maximum prison for terrorism.
Forensic analysis of phones seized from Bwire revealed that he had conveyed information about KICC’s security arrangements to contacts in Somalia.
