On Saturday night in Nyatike, Migori County, a 28-year-old lady committed suicide while her four children aged 8 and under were rescued.
According to chief Jeremia Oloo, the deceased, Dorothy Achieng, had the intention of killing her four children and had locked herself and the children in the house, set the home on fire, and then committed suicide using a rope.
Mr. Oloo stated that family members who were aroused by the distraught children’s pleas for assistance observed smoke rising from the house.
Mr.Oloo stated that they have yet to determine why the woman killed herself. The body was moved to the Sori Lakeside Hospital Mortuary.
