Waititu is back: I am now supporting BBI

Ousted Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has resurfaced after a year long hiatus from the public. – By Gerald Gekara.

He accompanied his fellow KANU party leaders to present BBI Signatures alongside the Secretariat.

While addressing the media, Mr. Waititu told off critics who said he was cast out in the cold by the ruling Jubilee party.

“I am a member of KANU. Uhuru Kenyatta was also the KANU party leader before he joined Jubilee. Ruto was a Secretary general for KANU. No one chased me away from anywhere iam still here!” Waititu said.

Waititu pledged his support on the BBI initiative, saying his earlier concerns were addressed by the reviewed ammendments.

The former Kiambu governor, also known as ‘Baba yao’ has been missing from the public limelight since he was ejected from his office by Kiambu MCAs.

At the start of his corruption case, Waititu snubbed several court proceedings. His lawyers said the governor had allegedly tested positive for COVID-19. 

Waititu is facing charges of corruption and abuse of Office in reference to irregular awarding of tenders worth 588 Million to one ‘Testimony Enterprises’.

According to the EACC, out of the 588 Million awarded, 51.2 Million was given to his wife.
