We’re Going To Germany! Kenya Seals Deal On Migration And Jobs

Great news for those seeking opportunities between Kenya and Germany! After two rounds of successful negotiations, both countries have finalized the draft agreement on a Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Partnership.

This new framework will pave the way for closer cooperation on migration and, most excitingly, labour mobility.

The agreement comes after talks in Berlin this March, which just concluded this week in Nairobi on May 14th and 15th.

Led by Principal Secretary Shadrack Mwadime (Labour and Skills Development) and PS Roseline Njogu (Diaspora Affairs), Kenya’s team worked closely with their German counterparts headed by Dr. Joachim Stamp (Federal Government Special Commissioner for Migration Agreements).

While the official signing is expected in September after internal legal procedures for both countries, the future looks bright for this partnership. Here’s a sneak peek at what to expect:

The agreement will kick off with a Job Fair right here in Nairobi, offering a platform for Kenyans seeking positions in Germany.

The framework aims to simplify procedures for migration and work-related movements between the two nations.

A dedicated committee will oversee the agreement’s smooth implementation, ensuring its benefits reach those it’s designed for.

This partnership is a significant step forward for Kenya and Germany. It holds the potential to unlock new opportunities for skilled workers, boost collaboration on migration issues, and strengthen the ties between the two nations.
