The Nairobi Western Bypass is projected to raise the bar to East- Africa’s largest economy when completed.
The critical infrastructure will ensure smooth transport of farm produce and raw materials, easing trade within Central Kenya.
The 17 Kilometer road connects Kikuyu and Ruaka towns in Kiambu County.
This road is one of the four bypass highways built to direct motorized traffic away from CBD and alleviate the perennial traffic jams in the city.
The bypass highways include Nairobi Northern Bypass Highway, Nairobi Eastern Bypass Highway, Nairobi Southern Bypass highway and Nairobi Western Bypass Highway.
Combined, the bypasses form 96.7 Kilometers of improved road network around the city.
The contractor, China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) are in high gear to ensure that the project is completed within the timelines.
A spot check by Uzalendo News has established the contractor is working on major works.
The contractor has so far put up box culverts at Wangige, overpasses at Karura as well as tarmacking of roads for easy transportation.
Residents are optimistic that once the project is completed economy in the area will develop, owing to the increased traffic.
“If the presence of machines in this area attracted over ten new shops, then you can imagine how much more businesses have come up since the construction started.” one resident said.
