Western Leaders Endorse Speaker Muturi

Members of the Democratic Party in Western Kenya have endorsed National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi’s presidential campaign.

On Sunday, party officials from the region’s counties gathered in Kisumu to rally their support for Muturi.

Kakamega County DP Chairman Charles Omutanyi said the county is ready and will rally behind Muturi to salvage the country from its spiraling debts.

Tribalism is rampant in the country, according to Omutanyi, and Muturi’s candidacy under DP will neutralize the vice because the party “enjoys tremendous support across the country.

Members of the party claim that President Mwai Kibaki was elected in 2002, and was DP’s preferred candidate.

They say they are ready to offer Kenyans another president.
