Why DP Gachagua Made The Shortest Speech Ever

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday, April 4, surprised attendees at the Social Protection Conference with an unusually short speech.

President William Ruto and Deputy President Riggy Gachagua were the chief guests at the event, which took place at the Kenya School of Government in Kabete.

Known for his lengthy speeches at previous events, Gachagua took less than a minute on stage to welcome the President to the stage for his address.

However, according to Gachagua, when Kenya is peaceful and businesses are uninterrupted, he doesn’t have much to say.

“I have nothing to say when Kenyan is at peace, business is up. We are at peace. I have nothing to say. Welcome, President, and address us,” said the Deputy President.

This speech was much shorter than those of the previous speakers, including Council of Governors Chairperson Anne Waiguru and Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli.

The abrupt change in Gachagua’s speech raised eyebrows among Kenyans, who wondered if he had been instructed to be more cautious in his attacks on the opposition.
