Ed Sheeran has revealed he is preparing to relocate to the United States with his family, citing his upcoming tour and long-term musical ambitions as the driving forces behind the move.
“I’m just about to move to America… I feel like I might be the only person moving to America,” the 34-year-old joked during an appearance on the 2 Johnnies Podcast, a quip seemingly referencing the country’s turbulent political climate.
Sheeran explained that the relocation was necessary to balance his career and family life. “I’m going on tour there for a while, so I have a family, so I can’t dip in and out—we’re going and settling there,” he said.
The announcement comes after the singer revealed earlier this year that he planned to move to Nashville, describing the city as the natural home for his next artistic chapter. “Nashville is my favourite city in the States and it’s always been my end goal to move there and transition to country,” he said in April on the Call Her Daddy podcast. “When you transition to country, you can’t transition back.”
In recent interviews, Sheeran has also shared details of his UK estate in Suffolk, where he built two pubs and a chapel. He described the venues as a private retreat where he can unwind away from cameras and social media. The chapel, he added, has hosted carol singing, weddings for members of his security team, and memorials for friends.
Born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, Sheeran has sold millions worldwide, with 14 UK number-one singles and eight number-one albums. He also holds a minority stake in Ipswich Town football club, which was relegated from the Premier League last season.
For Sheeran, the move marks both a personal and professional turning point as he eyes a full embrace of country music in Nashville.
