The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) a member of the coalition is pushing for this voting system in the oncoming general elections on August 9.

As election date nears, Wiper Democratic Party Movement is now opposed to six-piece voting.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) a member of the coalition is pushing for this voting system in the oncoming general elections on August 9.

Wiper Party officials from the region said even though they are members of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance it was wrong for the ODM leadership to tell people to only vote for their party candidates.

Led by Sheikh Twaha Jabu who is the Wiper Party Chairman in Mombasa County and the party’s NEC member also said they are confident that6 Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko will be in the race for Mombasa governor on August 9.

Speaking during the finals of a sports tournament organized by Wiper party Candidate for Gongoni Ward seat Idris Maalim in Magarini constituency Kilifi county he said the court cases against Sonko‘s troubles were political but assured residents of Mombasa that he would be on the ballot.

“We are in Azimio and we support Raila Odinga as our president but within the coalition, we are opposed to any politician telling people to vote for six-piece because the coalition was built by many political parties,” he said.

Mr Jabu said when a politician campaigns for six-piece voting it means he was not ready to form a coalition with other political parties.

He said had the ODM party wanted six-piece voting they would have gone as a party in the presidential race instead of forming a coalition and at the same time seeking votes alone as a single political party.

In Mombasa, the Wiper Chairman said they are optimistic that Sonko will overcome all the challenges he was going through and be in the race terming the tribulations as political.

“Sonko is talented which was God-given I have faith that even if he comes to Kilifi you will vote him in as the Governor what matters is development,” he said.

On his part, Maalim called on the youth to desist from being used by politicians for personal gains saying it would not help them get the right leadership.

“Elections come and Go our brotherhood will remain so I would urge you and plead with you to understand that we politicians are the same and do not fight because of us,” he said.

Maalim said politicians differ on ideologies and that does not mean people should fight for the sake of one politician to get into power.

The youthful candidate also called on residents of Magarini to vote for Raila as the fifth president of Kenya as he has really worked hard for the country to be where it is democratically.
