Witness: I was Paid Ksh 9,000 to Transport suspected killers of Willis Ayieko

A protected witness on Monday recounted before the High Court how he unknowingly became entangled in the kidnapping and murder of former Wells Fargo HR manager, Willis Ayieko Onyango, in October 2024.

Testifying under the Witness Protection Agency, the man revealed he was paid Ksh 9,000 to transport two armed suspects — including the first accused, Victor Ouma Okoth, alias Sisco — during the operation that led to Ayieko’s brutal killing.

According to the witness, Sisco recruited him under the pretext of a job from a man known as Champee, now deceased and believed to be one of the masterminds. He was asked to find a motorcycle, fuel it, and remain on standby without being told the mission’s details.

On October 18, 2024, after meeting Sisco and two men at Amigos Pub in Mutumbu Centre, the witness was instructed to trail a motorcycle carrying the suspects. Shortly afterward, he saw Sisco and Champee reappear wearing combat-style jackets and armed with AK-47 rifles.

The group proceeded to a homestead where a funeral service was ongoing. Later, the witness observed the suspects escorting a man — bound, hooded, and under armed guard — to a mud-walled house in a remote area. Hours later, he accompanied Sisco to Kisumu for multiple M-Pesa withdrawals using a foldable phone.

The next day, Sisco vanished, claiming he had secured a job in Nairobi.

The witness claimed he had no knowledge of the murder until arrested by detectives. The court heard that Ayieko had been abducted, tortured, and murdered in a well-orchestrated plan.

The case is being prosecuted by Catherine Mwaniki, Patrick Okango, Joyce Mumu, Soita China, and Mercy Mutheu. Proceedings continue this week as the court seeks justice for the slain HR manager.
