A woman was arraigned in court for stealing coffins from a funeral home after being entrusted to operate the funeral home.
Moureen Khikani, the accused woman was arraigned at Milimani Law Courts facing charges of stealing by servant contrary to the Law.
According to the prosecution, Moureen on diverse dates between May 12, 2022, and May 7, 2023, at ST. Augustine Funeral Services at Kenyatta Market, being employed as a sales lady, stole two coffins valued at Ksh 90,000 and 26 coffin handles valued at Ksh 117,000.
“You are charged that on diverse dates between May 12, 2022, and May 7, 2023, at ST. Augustine Funeral Services at Kenyatta Market, being employed as a sales lady, stole two coffins valued at Ksh 90,000 and 26 coffin handles valued at Ksh 117,000 the property of ST. Augustine Funeral Services which came to your possession by virtue of your employment” reads the charge sheet.
Appearing before Principal Magistrate BenMark Ekhubi at Milimani Law Courts, the accused lady denied the charges and was released on a bond of Ksh 200,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 100,000.
