Woman In Bhang Trafficking Case Re-Arraigned

A woman who had skipped court proceedings in a bhang trafficking case has finally been rearraigned.

Grace Akoth Otieno was presented before the Milimani Law Courts and charged with illegal drug trafficking contrary to the Law. 

She was arrested for the first time in 2016 in possession of 369.35 Kgs of Bhang.

According to the charge sheet, the accused is said to have committed the crime on 17th August 2016 within Nairobi.

The said bhang is valued at Ksh 7,387,000. It was conveyed in motor vehicle registration number KCG832H make Toyota probox.

The accused was released on a bond in 2016 and absconded court proceedings. As a result the Court issued a warrant of arrest. Pursuant to the warrant, the accused was arrested on 5thFebruary 2022 and arraigned in Court on Tuesday morning.

She however denied the charges in Court. The investigating officer requested the Court to deny bond to the accused given the fact that she demonstrated to be a flight risk after her first release.

The Court slated the case on 14th February 2022 for the determination of her bail and bond terms.
