Woman Nabbed with 294g Cocaine in Private Parts

A 28-year-old woman is in police custody after being found in possession of nearly 300 grams of cocaine during a sting operation along the Moyale-Nairobi highway.

The arrest was part of an ongoing multi-agency crackdown on drug trafficking routes connecting Kenya’s Northern Frontier to the capital.

Jane Njeri Muigai was traveling on a Nairobi-bound bus when it was intercepted at a routine roadblock.

Officers conducting stop-and-search procedures became suspicious of her behavior, prompting female officers to isolate her for a more thorough inspection.

According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), a body search revealed 294 grams of cocaine meticulously concealed in her private parts.

The substance was recovered and taken for forensic analysis.

Muigai was booked at Moyale Police Station, where she is being held pending further investigation and prosecution.

Anti-narcotics detectives from the DCI are preparing to initiate formal charges.

The DCI emphasized the significance of the bust, noting that the Northern Frontier corridor has increasingly become a preferred route for smugglers ferrying narcotics and contraband into the city.

Authorities have vowed to intensify surveillance and disrupt the operations of drug trafficking cartels using rural highways as covert smuggling routes.

“This arrest is a testament to the vigilance of our officers and the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration,” read part of the DCI’s statement.

Investigations into the origin and intended recipients of the narcotics are ongoing as police widen the dragnet on trafficking rings exploiting the remote frontier.
