A woman has been detained to allow police officers to complete investigations into a murder incident in Nairobi’s Kibarage slums.
Clementine Nandutu is said to have fought with Mary Njambi Mumbi (deceased) on 27th December 2021 causing the deceased’s bodily harm.
Both the suspect and the deceased victim are residents of Kibagare Slums.
The offence was reported at Gigiri Police Station vide OB NO. 14/01/01/2022.
The deceased was found dead in her mother’s house on 01/01/2022. The death is believed to be as a result of the injury sustained by the deceased during the fight.
Following the report of the death and an arrest of the suspect, the investigation officer in aid of the prosecution filed a motion of notice before Milimani Law Courts today 3rd January 3, 2022.
The motion sought the following orders: That the Court issues custodial orders for the accused person to be detained for 14 days at Gigiri Police Station to allow the investigation officer to conclude investigations on the case of murder.
The Investigating officer proceeded to say that the postmortem is yet to be conducted to establish the actual cause of the death.
He also submitted that the suspect’s and the deceased’s mobile phones pends subjection to forensic analysis.
According to his application, Safaricom communication data of both the suspect and deceased is yet to be obtained from the server.
The application was supported by an affidavit sworn by NO. 68156 PC Charles Muchoya.
However, the Court declined to grant the 14 days request by the Prosecution side and granted them 8 days to complete their investigations.
The Court ordered the suspect to be detained at Gigiri Police Station for 8 days.
