You Can’t Threaten Us, Concentrate On Your Project Raila – DP Ruto Fires Back At Uhuru

Deputy President William Ruto has chastised President Uhuru Kenyatta for his recent attack on the Kenya Kwanza camp.

Addressing a rally in Kapsabet on Friday, the DP went bare-knuckled at the head of state, accusing him of meddling in his political affairs when his tenure was already coming to an end.

The Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate went on to tell the President to focus on marketing his candidate Raila Odinga rather than constantly attacking and threatening him.

“Namuambia rafiki yangu Uhuru Kenyatta, please, wakati ulikua unahitaji watu wa kusimama na wewe tulisimama na wewe to the last man. Huyo Kitendawili unatusukumia saa hizi ni jamaa amehangaisha Kenya na alikuhangaisha ata wewe. Nataka nikuambie, wacha kuniletea maneno, wewe sukuma candidate yako bwana kitendawili. Unaniongelea nini?” he posed.

DP Ruto chastised President Kenyatta for rallying behind his political rival Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga, despite having supported him in previous polls in 2013 and 2017, saying he should refrain from criticizing the Kenya Kwanza team.

“Wachana na William Ruto. I supported you when you needed a man to support you, if you don’t want to support me, leave me alone. Mimi na wewe tuheshimiane,” the DP said.

“Hata kama umenifanya yale yote umenifanya, mimi ni mngwana na mkristo na nitahakikisha umeenda nyumbani pole pole bila shida.”

The DP went on to criticize the President for using threats to intimidate Kenya Kwanza supporters.

“I want to ask the president, you shouldn’t be the source of threats in Kenya… kazi yako ni kuhakikisha ya kwamba Wakenya wote wako salama; wacha kutuambia tutakujua wewe ndio Rais, sisi sio watu wa kutishwa,” Ruto remarked.

“We are the people who elected you, don’t threaten us!”

This comes just days after President Kenyatta chastised his deputy for engaging in political doublespeak and spreading lies about the Naivasha Inland Container Deport (ICD).

President Kenyatta also urged Nakuru residents to vote for Odinga, dismissing Ruto’s supporters as ‘politically immature’ to lead the country after the August elections.

“A whole leader standing in public and saying look at these people, they have moved the railway and port to Naivasha. Surely, can I carry the ocean to Naivasha? Only God can do that,” said Kenyatta.

“Hawa wengine ni wetu lakini inakaa they need time ya kutulia, kuwacha matusi, kuwacha spidi mingi na kujua ya kwamba kazi na ukweli inashinda matusi na chuki.”
