Kenya’s nightlife industry is preparing for its first formal recognition with the launch of the inaugural Nightlife Awards KE, scheduled for the first week of January 2026 in Nairobi.
The awards aim to celebrate individuals and establishments shaping the country’s fast-growing nightlife ecosystem, an industry that organisers say has long contributed culturally and economically without structured acknowledgment.
Founder Kennedy Omondi said the awards were designed to validate the work behind Kenya’s entertainment scene. “Kenya’s nightlife is a dynamic ecosystem, fostering creativity, employment, and a sense of community,” he said.
“From pulsating clubs and live music venues to intimate lounges and innovative mixologists, countless individuals work tirelessly to create unforgettable experiences. These awards are long overdue.”
The Nightlife Awards will spotlight excellence, promote innovation, and encourage professional standards across the industry. Categories include Best Club, Best Lounge, Best DJ Rollout, Best Bottle Girls, Best Mixologist, Best Restaurant Bar, and Most Promising New Venue.
Committee member Muthoni Ndirangu said the initiative reflects the diversity of contributors in the nightlife space. “We want to celebrate everyone who makes Kenya’s nights memorable, including the creative minds behind the concepts, the talent on stage, and the staff ensuring smooth operations,” she said.
The gala ceremony, set for a high-end Nairobi venue, will feature live performances by Kenyan artists, celebrity appearances, dining experiences, and the awards presentation. Venues already nominated include Al Capone, Quiver franchise, Al Fakher, Paris Lounge, Covo, Kikao Chill and Vibe, Triple X, Bar Next Door, Habanos, and Kentwood Address.
Nominations extend beyond Nairobi, highlighting the national scope of the awards with venues such as Baniyas Square and Tamasha in Eldoret, Zero 19 in Nyeri, Java Blue Lounge in Embu, Quitos in Lodwar, Al Capone in Nyali, Hornbill in Machakos, Black Pearl Lounge and Grill in Kisumu, and Club Neon in Meru.
Beyond celebration, organisers hope the awards will promote responsible entertainment, spotlighting establishments that prioritise safety, customer service, and community engagement, while reinforcing Kenya’s profile as an entertainment and tourism destination.
Preparations are underway as anticipation builds within the nightlife community ahead of January 2026.
