Fifth Vessel Docks At Lamu Port

The Lamu port has welcomed its fifth container cargo ship since it opened in May of this year.

The Maersk-owned MV Seago Piraeus stopped at the port on Saturday afternoon after sailing from Port Salalah in Oman to discharge 100 containers bound for Zanzibar before continuing to Mombasa.

The 294-meter ship is Kenya’s second-longest ship and the first to dock at Lamu.

About two years ago, the world’s largest vessel moored in Mombasa port.

Mv Spirit, Amu1, MV CAP Carmel, and MV Seago Bremerhaven are the other four vessels that have docked in Lamu since May.
