Four More Football Chiefs Summoned

More FKF officials are Monday expected to appear before the DCI for grilling over claims of fraud at the agency.

This comes as the FKF president Nick Mwendwa is expected in court where police will ask for more time to hold him as they investigate the claims.

Mwendwa spent the weekend in police cells after his arrest on Friday. Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed has since validated and enacted a caretaker committee, to run the federation for six months pending fresh elections.

This comes even as the world governing body Fifa, said due process was not followed in effecting the changes.

Mwendwa is in the spotlight for allegedly failing to account for more than Sh500 million given by the government for the day-to-day running of football activities in the country.

An inspection committee formed by CS Amina, revealed that a whopping Sh29,502,709 out of the federation’s funds was allegedly withdrawn by one of FKF signatories

The development comes in the wake of the order by Amina for the audit of the federation’s accounts in the Senate on the financial impropriety amidst defense of Mwendwa by his lawyers.
