KQ Admits ‘losing’ An Aircraft in Europe

Kenya Airways Dreamliner 787 jet

Kenya Airways states that on September 20, while flying over Germany, one of its planes, flight KQ-118, its route to the Netherlands from Kenya, lost contact with the Air Traffic Control (ATC).

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner’s contact was restored after necessary authorities intervened, according to the airline.

“The incident is not uncommon in aviation, as aircraft may occasionally lose contact with the ATC for a number of reasons: power failure when flying in areas with poor reception or a missed frequency change,” KQ said.

Despite the event, the airline claims that the pilots were able to re-establish contact with the ATC quickly after switching to a different frequency.

According to the statement, the airline has initiated an inquiry into the occurrence with the assistance of the ATC and has guaranteed its customers of their safety.
