Nairobi Traffic Police department has issued a traffic advisory on motorists using the Southern Bypass.
The Standard Chartered Marathon which is scheduled to be run on 31 October 2021 is expected to affect traffic within Nairobi.
Affected roads are: Southern bypass from Carnivore to Dagoreti Corner interchange, which shall remain closed from 1.00am – 2.00pm.
Road users are also adviced to avoid using Mombasa road turnoff to Southern bypass at Ole Sereni Hotel and also Mombasa road turnoff at ICD which shall remain closed.
The public is further advised to use main Mombasa Road or alternative routes than those to be closed to avoid inconvenience.
“The entire Southern bypass will be cordorned off to motorists so as to secure marathoners. We urge motorists to comply.” Omukata said.
The marathon was predominantly run along Uhuru highway and Langata road.
However, route designers changed the track to avoid the Nairobi expressway project, as well as the Tmall interchange.
