20 Kenya Counties At Risk Of Ebola Outbreak

Kenya’s Health Ministry has identified 20 of the country’s 47 counties as high-risk for Ebola outbreaks.

Busia, Nakuru, Kiambu, Nairobi, Kajiado, Machakos, Makueni, Taita Taveta, Mombasa, Kwale, Kericho, Bungoma, Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Turkana, and Uasin Gishu are among them.

Health DG Patrick Amoth has urged Kenyans to report any visitors entering the country through the informal routes to chiefs, nyumba kumi, and village headmen.

However, the DG has stated that there are no plans to suspend flights from Uganda, and that the ministry has instead increased surveillance and screening at border points and all points of entry.

“We don’t intend to stop flights because it is safer if people come in through the formal points as we will take contacts and keep tract of all those who are coming in,” Amoth said.

According to ministry data, 18, 726 people were screened at various points of entry between September 20 and September 25.
